Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I'm heading to Central in a few weeks, really hyped to explore. I've read about the iconic skyscrapers and shopping, but I'm more interested in the smaller stuff – the hidden alleys and backstreets… more

Forget the big stuff, Central's got some seriously cool nooks and crannies. Wander around Hollywood Road – you'll find antique shops galore and some tiny, delicious noodle places tucked away between them. Also, get lost in the streets around Man Mo Temple; it's a bit of a maze, but that's half the fun. You'll stumble across some amazing street art and local eateries that aren't plastered all over Instagram. Seriously, just get off the main drags and explore. That's where the real Hong Kong is. You'll be surprised what you find. Happy exploring!

Nah, I doubt it's a smugglers' trail. Hong Kong's too well-mapped for that sort of thing these days. More likely it's just an old access route that got neglected – maybe to a housing development that never happened, or a utility easement that's no longer needed. Plenty of those overgrown bits around old parts of Hong Kong. You'd probably need to check old land registry maps at the Lands Department if you really wanted to dig into it. Good luck with that though – it's a rabbit hole.

Yeah, that makes sense. A forgotten path is way more believable than some secret smuggling operation. Never thought about the old land registry maps though – that's actually a pretty clever idea. Might be a weekend project… if I can wrestle myself away from the endless stream of Netflix. Thanks for the tip!
