West Hotel Woes?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I stayed at the West Hotel last week, lovely place, really. But the wifi... oh man, the wifi. It was like trying to dial up in the Jurassic period. Seriously, slower than a snail stuck in molass… more

Yeah, the wifi at the West Hotel is notoriously bad. I've heard complaints for years. It's not just slow; it's unreliable. I've had better luck using my phone's hotspot than their network. Seriously, consider bringing a portable wifi device if you value your sanity and need to get anything done online. Maybe they'll upgrade their system sometime in the next decade... but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Ugh, seriously? That's a total bummer. I was planning on relying on their wifi for work emails, etc. A portable wifi device... hadn't even considered that. Thanks for the heads-up; you saved me a major headache. Guess I'll be adding that to my packing list!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
