Union Square Secrets?

fmd_good Union Square

So I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, it's buzzing, right? I've seen the pictures – all the hustle and bustle. But everyone seems to focus on the big shopping malls and tourist traps. I'm m… more

Check out the backstreets near the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. There are some seriously amazing little dai pai dongs tucked away there – think super cheap, delicious noodles and amazing local energy. You'll find yourself dodging delivery guys on scooters and chatting with folks who've lived there for decades. It's not "secret" in the sense it's unknown, but it's definitely off the beaten tourist track. Avoid the main drag – wander down the smaller side streets. You'll find stuff most tourists miss. Also, wander around the area near the Man Mo Temple – tons of hidden eateries around there.

That's awesome, thanks! Dai pai dongs sound amazing. I love finding those hole-in-the-wall places with the real local vibe. Dodging scooters...sounds like my kind of adventure. I'll definitely check out the Man Mo Temple area too – good tip on avoiding the main drag. Appreciate the detailed suggestions!

Nah, I've never gone down that path myself. It does look intriguing though, all overgrown and mysterious. Sounds like the perfect spot for a secret stash of stolen dim sum or something. Maybe a colony of unusually large, park-dwelling squirrels? Who knows! Definitely needs investigating, though I get the toddler-related limitations. Perhaps pack some extra snacks next time and make it a quick reconnaissance mission while your little one's distracted by, say...a particularly interesting pigeon?
