Union Square's Vibe?

fmd_good Union Square

I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, super excited! I've heard it's buzzing with energy, but I'm curious – what's the best way to soak in the true atmosphere of the place? Is there a specific… more

Honestly, Union Square is pretty touristy, so avoiding all the tourist traps is tough. But to get a feel for the real Hong Kong vibe near Union Square, ditch the big brand stores and wander down the side streets. Look for smaller, local eateries – the ones packed with locals are always a good sign. Evenings are generally more lively, less hectic than the daytime rush. Grab a cheap and cheerful street food snack – that’s a total Hong Kong experience. Just be mindful of your belongings, especially at night. It's all about exploring the alleys and soaking in the energy; you’ll find it more in the small details than in any one specific spot. Happy travels!

Belfran Rd Mystery?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

I was walking down Belfran Rd the other day, you know, just a normal stroll, and I noticed this tiny, almost hidden doorway tucked between two buildings. It looked like it hadn't been used in ages, a… more

Sounds like something out of a Wong Kar-wai film! Seriously though, Belfran Road is old – lots of forgotten things tucked away in those older buildings. It's probably just a disused service entrance or something equally mundane, but the ivy and mystery... that's the fun part, isn't it? Maybe it is a secret passage to a hidden speakeasy... or just a really dusty storeroom. I'd be way too chicken to try and peek, lol. Maybe take a picture next time? Could be interesting to see what others think.

Haha, yeah, a Wong Kar-wai vibe is exactly right! I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're spot on. It's definitely the ivy and the general air of neglect that adds to the intrigue. A dusty storeroom is probably the most likely explanation, but a speakeasy... now that's a much better story. I'm kinda scared to go poking around too much, but a picture is a good idea. I'll definitely try to snap one next time I'm near it. Thanks for the suggestion!
