Check out the university archives; they should have some pretty detailed records. Also, try searching for old Hong Kong newspapers online – the South China Morning Post archive might be a goldmine. You could even try contacting the PolyU alumni association; those folks often have the best gossip. Good luck with your digging – let me know if you unearth anything juicy!

Nah, never stayed at the West Hotel myself, but that's seriously creepy. Sounds like something straight out of a Wong Kar-wai film. Maybe it's some kind of ancient feng shui thing? Or... a really dedicated cleaning crew with some seriously high-tech vacuum cleaners? I'd probably be freaking out, tbh. Maybe try posting this on a Hong Kong forum? You might find someone who’s had a similar experience. Or, you know, just embrace the mystery. It’s Hong Kong; weird stuff happens.
