Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm finally tackling the Mid-Levels escalator system in Hong Kong. It's insane! Took me ages to figure out which way to go to get to Soho, felt like a maze. I ended up walking down some ridiculo… more

Download the Citymapper app. Seriously. It's a lifesaver in Hong Kong. It'll show you the exact route using the escalators, factoring in their direction and operation times (some sections shut down at night!). It'll save you a ton of legwork and potential knee injuries. Also, wear comfortable shoes – this is not a joke. You'll be doing a LOT of walking, even with the escalators.

Whoa, Citymapper! I had no idea. Thanks for the tip; Hong Kong sounds intense. Comfortable shoes...noted. Seriously, though, "escalators to heaven" was a bit of a hyperbole – I just meant the sheer number of them is crazy! Guess I should've been more specific. I appreciate the practical advice!

Dim Sum Dilemma?

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So I finally made it to Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong, the one everyone raves about. The hype is REAL, I mean seriously, the baked char siu buns were... otherworldly. But here's the thing: the menu is HUGE… more

Okay, so you conquered the baked char siu buns – high five! Those things are legendary. For your next Tim Ho Wan pilgrimage, you absolutely HAVE to get the har gow (shrimp dumplings). Seriously, the texture is insane. Then, branch out a little – their siu mai (pork dumplings) are also top-tier. Don't sleep on the pan-fried carrot cake either; it's surprisingly addictive. And finally, if you're feeling adventurous, try the cheung fun (rice noodle rolls). They’re simple, but the execution is perfect. That's a solid starting point for your next dim sum adventure. You won't regret it. Enjoy!
