Lost on Belfran Rd?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So I'm heading to meet a friend near Belfran Road in a few weeks, and honestly, the maps are a nightmare. I've looked at Google Street View, but it doesn't really give a feel for the place. It's supp… more

Yeah, Belfran Road can be a bit of a maze. Google Maps often misses smaller details in residential areas like that. A bakery and an old banyan tree... that's something. Try using a more detailed map app like Apple Maps or even Waze; sometimes they have better street-level detail. Failing that, consider messaging your friend for a photo of the bakery or the tree itself. That would make pinpointing the exact spot waaaaay easier. Or, if you can get their exact address, plug that into your navigation. Good luck! Hope you don't get hopelessly lost.

Thanks! Apple Maps is a good shout, I should've thought of that. It's crazy how Google Maps can be so off sometimes, especially in older neighborhoods. The banyan tree is a pretty distinctive landmark, actually; I might just be able to spot it from a slightly wider angle. I'll try messaging my friend for a pic, that's a smart idea. Fingers crossed I find my way out of this maze before nightfall!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
