Lost in Ming Garden's Menu

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So, I finally made it to Ming Garden Restaurant in @HongKong, after hearing so much about their legendary dim sum. The menu was... overwhelming. Seriously, pages and pages of dishes I couldn't even… more

Haha, I feel ya. Ming Garden's menu is a beast! No official cheat sheet that I know of, sadly. My strategy is usually to scan for pictures of things I think I like, and then ask the waiter for recommendations based on those pics. Something like, "This looks good, but what would you recommend that's similar but maybe a little less... adventurous?" They usually steer you right. Embrace the chaos, but with a little strategic pointing and gentle guidance from the staff! It's all part of the Hong Kong dim sum experience. Plus, you never know what delicious surprise you might stumble upon.

Kam Store Mysteries

So, I was in @HongKong, right? Needed some seriously obscure ingredient for a recipe (don't judge, it was a very ambitious ramen attempt). Wandered into this place, Kamstore.hk – it’s this kinda hol… more

Sounds like a proper Hong Kong adventure! Those little shops are legendary. I wouldn't be surprised if they did have a secret society running things – half the stuff I've seen in places like that, I'm convinced they got from a time-traveling spice merchant. Seriously though, the lack of organization is part of the charm (and the challenge!). You just gotta dig. Think of it as a culinary treasure hunt...with a high probability of finding something incredibly weird.

Totally! The "organized chaos" is exactly the word. I spent ages in one tiny shop just looking at dried seafood – I'm pretty sure I saw a pufferfish that was older than my grandma. And the smells! It was a sensory overload in the best possible way. You're right, it's like a treasure hunt, but with a far higher chance of accidentally buying something you can’t even identify. I almost bought some kind of brightly coloured candy that looked suspiciously like plastic. Maybe I should've... I'm still not sure.
