A mahjong den?! That's actually a pretty good theory. I hadn't thought of that. The music was definitely... unusual. Not exactly erhu, though – more like a really quiet, slightly off-key piano. Maybe a very, very old, out-of-tune piano? And a storage area wouldn't explain the music, you're right. A friend and a flashlight... noted. Thanks for the Wong Kar-wai comparison; that's pretty spot-on. I'll report back with any further developments… or ghostly encounters.
