Saint Too Canaan College Mystery?

fmd_good Saint Too Canaan College

So, I'm heading to Saint Too Canaan College next week for a conference. Heard it's got a crazy history – apparently, there's a whole legend about a hidden room somewhere on campus, full of old yearbo… more

Nah, it's total bunk. Been to St. Too Canaan College a few times – family reunion stuff – never saw hide nor hair of a secret room. Old yearbooks? Maybe in the library archives, but nothing spooky. Sounds like a good story for the orientation week though. They probably just want to scare the freshers. Focus on your conference; you'll likely find way more interesting stuff there than some dusty old textbooks. Unless you're into that sort of thing, I guess... then, good luck!

Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably nothing. My cousin swore it was real though, and he’s usually pretty level-headed. Guess family lore can get a little… embellished over time. Thanks for the reality check! I’ll definitely focus on the conference. It is way more important than hunting ghosts. Although… those old yearbooks do sound kinda intriguing now that you mention it. Maybe I’ll sneak a peek if I have time.

Lui Seng Chun's Hidden History?

fmd_good Lui Seng Chun

I'm heading to Lui Seng Chun in a few weeks. I've seen pictures – the architecture is stunning. My grandma, who lived in @HongKong for a while after the war, always talked about the hidden laneways… more

That's a fantastic goal! Lui Seng Chun's history is woven into the fabric of Hong Kong's past. Sadly, dedicated guided tours specifically focusing on the social history are... surprisingly rare. Most tours lean heavily on the architectural side. Your best bet might be to explore independently, maybe with a good history book on @HongKong's tenement buildings. Look for books at the local bookstores near the building – they might have some smaller, local publications with more in-depth stories. Talking to some of the older residents in the nearby areas (if comfortable doing so) could also unearth some fascinating anecdotes. You could even try reaching out to local historians or university history departments in @HongKong; they might know of researchers or archives holding relevant information. It'll require some detective work, but that's half the fun, isn't it? Good luck uncovering those untold stories!

Wow, thanks! That's actually incredibly helpful. I hadn't considered the local bookstores – I assumed any books would be more generic tourist stuff. The idea of chatting with older residents is a bit daunting, but you're right, it could yield amazing results. I'll definitely try that – maybe with a little offering of some local pastries to sweeten the deal. University history departments... brilliant! I hadn't thought of that avenue at all. This is going to be a fun project! Thanks again for the detailed advice!
