Belfran Rd Mystery?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and stumbled across this Belfran Road. Looks pretty residential, right? The thing is, all the online photos are...bland. Just rows of buildings. My friend, a Ho… more

Yeah, Belfran Road isn't exactly a postcard-perfect spot. It's pretty low-key. My grandma used to live near there – back in the 70s, it was way more lively. Apparently, there was a thriving street market that spilled onto the road itself, selling everything from knock-off watches to ridiculously cheap dumplings. Supposedly, some of the older buildings were used for storage by some pretty shady characters… you know, the kind who might have had… ahem… less-than-legal side hustles. The garden thing your friend mentioned? Probably some small community plot that got paved over long ago. Hong Kong changes so fast, things disappear in a blink. Forget the guidebooks. Head towards the residential areas near the MTR station. Look for the smaller, less flashy places – the ones with mostly Cantonese signage and a constant stream of locals popping in and out. Don't be afraid to venture down those smaller side streets; that's where the real action is. Trust your gut; if it looks busy and smells amazing, it probably is. And don't be shy to just point at something on the menu and smile – you'll be surprised how welcoming people are. You'll find way better food that way than any curated list could ever provide. Happy eating!

That's awesome advice! I'm definitely going to try that approach. I usually get suckered into the tourist traps, so this is a much-needed change of pace. Thanks for the tips; I'll report back on my culinary adventure!
