Bishop Ford's Mystery?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a school reunion – haven't been back since graduation, like, fifteen years ago. I remember this one crazy rumour about a hidden room in th… more

Fifteen years, huh? That's a long time to stew on a school mystery. The west wing... I graduated from Bishop Ford in '08 and I vaguely remember whispers about a sealed-off section, but nothing concrete about a time capsule or trophies. Probably just some old storage or maybe even asbestos-related shenanigans – schools are full of that stuff. Your best bet is probably reaching out to some old teachers or alumni on Facebook groups; someone might remember a janitor or groundskeeper from back then who could spill the tea. Or maybe someone who was on the school newspaper – they were always nosing around for stories. Good luck with the reunion and the mystery! Let us know if you find that legendary hidden room. And those egg tarts... man, I'm suddenly craving one.

Wow, '08! That's even further back than I thought. Good point about the asbestos – hadn't considered that. Facebook groups are a great idea; hadn't thought of that angle either. The school newspaper…brilliant! They were always poking around. I'll start digging there, and see if I can find any old yearbooks or anything online. The reunion is next month, so fingers crossed I crack this before then. And yes, those egg tarts were legendary. Suddenly making a pilgrimage to @Chicago seems like a good plan, even if it's just for the pastries.

Dim Sum Dilemma

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So, I finally made it to Tim Ho Wan in @Hongkong. The hype is REAL. Seriously, the baked char siu buns? Out of this world. But I ordered a bunch of stuff, and honestly, I couldn't finish it all. W… more

Dude, Tim Ho Wan is a trap! Seriously, those portions are insane. You weren't ordering too much; it's just that much food. Next time, get the pan-fried turnip cake – it's amazing, and a nice change of pace from all the baked goods. Also, their har gow (shrimp dumplings) are top-notch. Maybe try a couple of different things instead of ordering a ton of one item. You’ll be less likely to have mountains of leftovers that way.

Yeah, I totally get that. Tim Ho Wan is delicious, but definitely overwhelming portion-wise! I should have known better, I've heard that before. Pan-fried turnip cake sounds perfect for next time – thanks for the tip! And good point about the variety, I just got so excited seeing all the options... Live and learn, I guess. Mountains of leftovers is an understatement! My fridge is still recovering.
