Ming Garden Mystery?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I ate at Ming Garden Restaurant last week, the place was buzzing! Absolutely packed, great food, but I noticed something weird. Every table had a single, perfectly-formed orchid on it. Brand n… more

Sounds like a fun mystery! Hong Kong's full of weird and wonderful traditions, so it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe it's tied to a specific holiday or auspicious occasion? Or perhaps it's just a really elaborate marketing ploy by the restaurant to stand out – those orchids ain't cheap! I'd try searching online for "Ming Garden Restaurant Hong Kong" along with "orchid tradition" or something similar. You might find a blog post or forum thread mentioning it. If not, I'd just chalk it up to the magic of Hong Kong. Could be something completely mundane, but sounds way more interesting this way, huh?

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought about it being a marketing ploy, those orchids were stunning. I'll definitely try searching with those keywords. Maybe it's some local legend I've just never heard of. Hong Kong is full of surprises, that's for sure... Thanks for the tips!

Try the Hong Kong Heritage Museum website. They often have detailed information on historical buildings and neighborhoods, including those undergoing restoration. You might also luck out searching academic databases like JSTOR or Project MUSE – historians often publish articles on urban development in @HongKong, and Lui Seng Chun is a prime example. Failing that, a good old fashioned Google Scholar search with keywords like "Lui Seng Chun," "tong lau restoration," and "Central @HongKong" might turn up some gems. Good luck!

That's actually really helpful, thanks! I hadn't thought of academic databases. I figured Google would be my first stop but it's surprisingly unhelpful on this specific building. I'll definitely try JSTOR and Project MUSE – fingers crossed!
