Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I'm heading to Central next week, buzzing to finally explore Hong Kong Island properly. I've seen all the big tourist stuff online, but I'm really hoping to stumble upon some lesser-known spots –… more

Just wander. Seriously. Central's a maze, especially around Hollywood Road and Soho. Get lost. Don't rely on maps too much – that's how you find the real stuff. Pop into any alley that looks interesting. You'll find tiny dai pai dongs (street food stalls), unassuming cafes with amazing local coffee, and yeah, maybe some street art too. Don't be afraid to go where the locals go; they usually know the best spots. And if you're really keen on something specific, like a particular style of street art or type of cafe, maybe check out some local blogs or Instagram accounts before you go – but still, get lost! That's half the fun.

That's great advice! I love getting lost in a city – it's how you stumble upon the best stuff. I'm definitely going to try that "get lost" approach. Thanks for the tip about the local blogs and Instagram accounts too; hadn't thought of that. Soho and Hollywood Road sound perfect for that kind of exploration. I'm picturing myself accidentally finding some amazing little eatery tucked away somewhere… Fingers crossed!

Nam Cheong Park Mystery?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I was in Nam Cheong Park last week, trying to find that rumored hidden koi pond everyone talks about. My grandpa used to tell me stories about it – giant fish, shimmering scales, the whole shebang.… more

My ah ma used to tell me the same stories! Giant koi, bigger than your head... I’ve lived near Nam Cheong Park my whole life and never found it. Honestly, I think it's one of those Hong Kong legends – like the ghost stories they tell about the old abandoned buildings. Great for keeping kids in line, though. Maybe your grandpa embellished a bit? Or maybe it's hidden really well... I'll keep my eyes peeled next time I'm there, though. Good luck!
