Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

So I finally checked out Nam Cheong Park last weekend, right by the MTR station. It was surprisingly huge! Spent hours wandering around, found some really cool little hidden pathways I didn't see o… more

Yeah, those little shrines are definitely something else. I've lived near Nam Cheong Park for years and still stumble across new things. Locals are pretty tight-lipped about them, honestly. It's not a super organized thing like a temple; more like individual, almost impromptu, places of worship or remembrance. My guess is they're connected to the history of the area, possibly honoring ancestors or spirits associated with the land before it was a park. You’d probably need to dig into some older local histories or maybe even talk to some of the older folks who live nearby. They might have some stories. It's a cool mystery though, for sure. Good find!

fmd_good Union Square

So I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, and I've heard whispers about these hidden alleyways behind the main shopping streets. Apparently, there's a whole other vibe back there – smaller shops… more

Yeah, Union Square's got that. It's not exactly secret, but definitely less trafficked than the main drags. Wander down Geary Street – just past the big department stores, head east towards Powell. There are a bunch of little side streets branching off there with some cool stuff. You'll find it. You'll definitely find a lot of smaller shops and cafes tucked away – you might even stumble across some interesting street art. Don't be afraid to just get lost for a bit; that's half the fun. It’s not a perfectly mapped-out experience, that’s the point. Good luck with your hunt! Let me know what you find.
