Caritas Bianchi Lodge Conundrum

fmd_good Caritas Bianchi Lodge

So, I'm planning a trip to @HongKong and booked a stay at the Caritas Bianchi Lodge. Heard it's got killer views, but the website's a bit vague on the noise levels. Anyone stayed there recently? How… more

Stayed there last month! Views are indeed killer, totally worth it. Noise wasn't terrible, but it depends on your room and what's going on outside. I was on a higher floor and it was pretty quiet, just the general city hum. Lower floors might be a bit more lively. I'm a pretty light sleeper too, and I didn't need earplugs, but I'm also a pretty heavy sleeper sometimes so your mileage may vary. Pack them just in case, it's better to have them and not need them, ya know?

That's reassuring about the noise! I'm a pretty light sleeper myself, so the higher floor tip is super helpful. Thanks for the heads-up on packing earplugs – definitely adding those to my list. Killer views are a must-have though, so I'm still leaning towards booking it.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
