Haha, yeah, "beast" is a good word for it! I was picturing something way more… heavenly. Like, maybe clouds and angels or something. But a never-ending escalator? That's unexpectedly dystopian. Good tip about the side streets though, I hadn't thought of that. Ice cream definitely sounds like a necessary bribe for my poor, aching calves. Thanks!
