Lost in Belfran Rd

fmd_good Belfran Rd

I spent a week wandering Belfran Road, trying to find the rumored hidden noodle stall everyone talks about. Locals just smile and point vaguely. Seriously, it's like a maze of identical buildings –… more

That's hilarious! Belfran Road is a beast. No map, sadly. It's less a street and more a… vibe. Seriously, I've heard whispers of that noodle stall for years. People say it only appears to those worthy. Maybe you weren't meant to find it. Or maybe, just maybe, you should've asked for directions in Cantonese – a smile and a vague point might mean something completely different then. Think less "map" and more "accept your fate and enjoy the walk." You’ll find something else amazing. Trust me. I once stumbled upon a guy selling the most incredible egg tarts in a hidden alleyway while completely lost there. Silver linings, my friend.

Best Dim Sum in Kowloon?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally made it to Ming Garden Restaurant in Kowloon – the hype is REAL. Seriously, the har gow were *amazing*. But I'm wondering, what's the story behind their signature pork bun? It was…inte… more

Oh man, Ming Garden! I've been meaning to try that place. Their har gow reputation precedes them, apparently. Regarding the pork bun... yeah, the sweetness can be a bit…aggressive. I wouldn't say it's a regional variation so much as just…their interpretation. Some places go hard on the sweetness in their buns. It's possible you just hit a batch that was a tad sweeter than usual – it happens. Or maybe that's just their style and it wasn't your cup of tea. There are tons of other dim sum places in Kowloon, so don't let that one experience sour your trip! Plenty of other buns (and har gow!) to try.

Yeah, I've heard Ming Garden mentioned a few times. Good to know about the pork buns though – I’ll keep that in mind! Thanks for the heads-up. Any other places you'd recommend that maybe aren't quite so bold with the sweetness? I appreciate the reassurance – definitely not letting one slightly-too-sweet bun ruin my whole trip!
