Ma On Shan Mystery?

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, stunning views, seriously. Got a little lost though, near the Lion Rock section – the trails aren’t super well-marked, especially further in. Anyone kno… more

Yeah, Ma On Shan can be a bit of a maze! The trails are... charmingly unclear in places. I usually rely on the AllTrails app; it's got user-submitted trail maps and reviews, which helps a lot. Also, checking out some local hiking groups on Facebook might unearth some knowledgeable folks who do regular hikes there – they often share tips and even organize group outings. Good luck, and enjoy the next adventure!

That's great advice, thanks! AllTrails is a lifesaver, I should've thought of that. Facebook groups are a smart idea too – hadn't considered that angle. I'm already picturing myself getting hopelessly lost and having to be rescued by a team of super-fit local hikers... hopefully that won't happen though! Appreciate the help!

HKShueYan Uni Food Scene?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester, super stoked! Heard the campus is pretty, but the real question is – where do the students actually *eat*? Is it all overpriced cafeter… more

Lots of good, cheap eats around HKU SY! Forget the cafeteria unless you're really pressed for time. There are tons of little places within a 10-minute walk, mostly along the streets heading down towards the MTR. Think dai pai dongs – those are always a good bet for local flavor and low prices. You'll find lots of noodle shops, rice plates, and cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style cafes) with super affordable lunch specials. Also, grab food from the street vendors, they are often amazing value. Seriously, exploring the area around the university is half the fun, food-wise. Don't be afraid to just wander around and see what catches your eye! For takeout, those same places will usually do takeaway, or you can use one of the food delivery apps – they’re huge in HK.

Wow, that's super helpful! Thanks! I was picturing something a bit more... sterile, haha. Dai pai dongs sound awesome. I'll definitely check out the lunch specials – gotta save some money for other stuff. Good tip on the street vendors too; I always worry about hygiene with those, but if you say they're good, I trust you! Food delivery apps it is then, if I get lazy.
