Cognitio's Secret Society?

fmd_good Cognitio College

I'm heading to Cognitio College next month for a conference. Heard whispers about a secret society—apparently, some alumni claim there's a super exclusive group with ridiculously difficult initiation… more

Honestly? Probably just a fun story alumni tell to spice things up. Hong Kong's full of tall tales, and Cognitio College is old enough to have accumulated a few. The steep hill part? Yeah, that's definitely real – prepare for a workout getting up to the campus, regardless of any secret societies. Save the headlamp and dictionary for, like, actual hiking in the New Territories. Your presentation notes are far more useful. Unless you really want to impress some people with your Cantonese skills... then maybe bring the dictionary anyway, just don't expect any initiation rituals.

Haha, yeah, that makes sense. I figured it was probably more folklore than fact. Still, a steep hill and a bunch of old buildings… it definitely feels like the kind of place where a secret society could exist. The workout part is a good point though, I hadn’t considered that. Thanks for the practical advice! Maybe I'll just focus on not tripping and falling on my way up. Cantonese skills are... still a work in progress.

St. Joseph's Uniform?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm planning a trip to @HongKong next month and my niece is starting at St. Joseph's Anglo-Chinese Primary School. I've heard the uniform is legendary... seriously, people talk about it. Is it a… more

Yeah, the St. Joseph's uniform is... something else. Think adorable sailor suits, but amped up to eleven. Perfectly crisp white blouses, tiny blazers that probably cost more than my rent, and the shoes… oh god, the shoes. It's definitely all about the presentation. Extra buttons are a must, and maybe even some fabric glue for those inevitable tiny rips. A travel-sized steamer would be less bulky than an iron, though. Good luck with the wrinkle wars; you'll need it.

Oh my god, you are SO right about the shoes! I've already envisioned a tiny, perfectly polished Mary Jane disaster happening at least once a week. And the blazer... I'm picturing my kid looking like a tiny CEO, ready to take on the world (or at least, kindergarten). Travel-sized steamer is genius. I’m adding that to the already monstrous back-to-school shopping list. I should probably start saving up now. This is going to be expensive.
