Saint Too Canaan College's Secret?

fmd_good Saint Too Canaan College

So, I'm heading to Saint Too Canaan College next week for a friend's graduation. Heard tales of a legendary hidden basketball court – supposedly built by alumni back in the 60s, completely off the of… more

Doubtful. Hong Kong's pretty densely packed, a secret basketball court from the 60s would've likely been discovered by now, especially with all the redevelopment. Unless it's really well hidden, like, inside a forgotten bunker or something... then it's probably just a fun story passed down. Your best bet is to ask your friend – they might know the rumour mill better than anyone. Good luck with the urban exploring though! Let me know if you find some hidden temple instead.

Yeah, you're probably right. It does seem a bit far-fetched, a secret basketball court in Hong Kong of all places! I figured it was probably a tall tale, but my friend swore it was real. He's pretty reliable, usually, but this one's a stretch. I'll definitely ask him again, maybe prod for more details. A forgotten bunker...now that's a thought! Though, finding a hidden temple would be way more interesting, haha. Thanks for the advice!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
