Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I spent last Sunday at Nam Cheong Park, trying to find that legendary koi pond everyone keeps whispering about. The park itself was lovely, tons of families, kids screaming, the usual Sunday scene.… more

Nah, it's not a myth. That koi pond is real, alright. But it's...well, let's just say it's not exactly advertised. Think less "grand public display" and more "serene, tucked-away little oasis". You'll find it near the western edge of the park, past that pretty little bridge—the one everyone seems to be ignoring. It's behind a fairly dense cluster of trees, almost hidden. You really have to be looking for it to find it. Keep an eye out for the slight dip in the ground; that's your clue. And bring some fish food, those koi are hungry.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
