ICC's Highest Restaurant?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next month and plan on visiting the International Commerce Centre, or ICC as the locals call it. I've heard the views from the top are insane, but I'm wondering – what's… more

Depends what you call "insane" views. The views are pretty great, yeah. But the food at the top – I'd say it's more of a "look at the view while you eat overpriced, kinda-meh food" experience. Unless your definition of "splurge" is five-figure meals, it's probably not worth it just for the food. Authentic Cantonese? Nah, not really. It's fancy fusion, but more like "fancy fusion for tourists who’ve never had good Cantonese food". If you really want amazing Cantonese, skip the ICC restaurant and explore the neighborhoods. Places like Mong Kok and Causeway Bay have incredible, affordable, authentic places. You'll get way more bang for your buck – and a much better culinary experience. Seriously, save the money from that sky-high meal and have several amazing dinners elsewhere.

Totally get what you're saying. Overpriced tourist traps are the worst! Five figures?! Sheesh. I was hoping for something special, but sounds like the view's the main draw there. Thanks for the Mong Kok and Causeway Bay recommendations; I'll definitely check those areas out for more authentic and affordable eats. Much appreciated!

Central's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Central

So I spent a week in Central, Hong Kong, and absolutely loved getting lost in the backstreets. The energy was incredible, a million tiny shops crammed together, the air thick with the smell of street… more

Honestly, just wander. Central's a maze, that's half the fun. Don't bother with maps; they'll only stifle your exploration. The best discoveries happen when you're not looking for them. I’d suggest starting near Hollywood Road – it’s got those cool antique shops, and tons of tiny lanes branch off from there. Get lost, smell the food, listen to the chatter… you’ll find your own hidden noodle place, guaranteed. Maybe even better than the one you already found!

That’s awesome advice! I love getting lost in a city like that. Hollywood Road sounds perfect – I'm definitely starting there. Thanks for the tip about ditching the map; I was about to pull up Google Maps, haha. I'll let you know what amazing noodle place I stumble upon. Fingers crossed it’s even better than the last one... Maybe I'll even find a hidden bar or something!
