ICC Elevator Speed?

fmd_good International Commerce Centre

So I'm heading to @HongKong next month and plan on visiting the International Commerce Centre, or ICC as the locals call it. Heard the elevators are crazy fast – like, seriously fast. My question is… more

Yeah, the ICC elevators are ridiculously fast. I definitely got that stomach-lurch thing going on, and I'm not even that scared of heights. It's less a "free fall" sensation and more a super-intense, compressed feeling of upward acceleration. Think of a really, really powerful slingshot. Prepare yourself! If you're nervous about heights, maybe try focusing on something inside the elevator – your phone, a pamphlet, anything to distract your eyes from the view. It's only a few minutes, though. And the view from the top... worth it, probably. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the detailed response! A "really, really powerful slingshot" – that's a pretty accurate description. I guess I should mentally prepare myself for some serious upward thrust. I’ll definitely try the distraction tactic with my phone; good thinking. Appreciate the heads-up!

Bishop Ford's Secret?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a friend's kid's school play. Heard it's a pretty old building...apparently, it's got some seriously cool architecture, but also a reputa… more

Nah, it's probably just old building quirks. Hong Kong's got a lot of those, especially in older schools. Creaky floors, dodgy wiring...that sort of thing. I've never heard anything super spooky about Bishop Ford, though. Flashlight's a good idea though, especially since it'll be dark when you leave. Might need it to find your way to the car park! Don't worry too much, enjoy the play.

Yeah, that makes sense. Old buildings are definitely full of surprises! I guess I let my imagination run away with me a bit. Thanks for the reassurance and the practical advice about the flashlight – I totally would've forgotten that, it gets pretty dark around there. Looking forward to the play now, all the mystery talk nearly put me off!
