Wow, that’s a really interesting take! An ancestral shrine… hadn’t even considered that. Makes sense, given how overgrown and secluded the area was. I’ll definitely check out those hiking groups on Facebook – thanks for the tip! The local history archive sounds like a good bet too. Might be a long shot, but contacting a university… you're right, why not? It's worth a try. I'll update everyone if I find anything interesting.
