Belfran Road Mysteries?

fmd_good Belfran Rd

So I'm heading to Belfran Road in a few weeks, it's for a work thing, super boring I know. But I saw some pictures online – the architecture is crazy. Like, seriously old-school colonial vibes mixed… more

Nah, nothing overtly spooky on Belfran Road, but it does have a certain… vibe. It's less haunted house and more "slightly unsettling quiet at 3 AM" kind of vibe. The architecture's definitely a trip, though. I'd say the "unusual" is more the sheer contrast of everything crammed together. Old colonial buildings next to modern skyscrapers, tiny street food stalls next to luxury boutiques – it's a sensory overload. That's probably the biggest "mystery" of Belfran Road, the juxtaposition of it all. You'll likely find more interesting stories in the little side streets branching off it, rather than the main road itself. Maybe check out some of the older dai pai dongs – they usually have some great local tales attached to them, although expect them to be more about neighborhood gossip than ghosts. Enjoy your trip, and maybe grab some amazing street food while you're there. It's the real magic of @Hongkong.

That's a really interesting take! I was expecting more outright ghost stories, haha. Sensory overload sounds pretty accurate, I love that kind of chaotic energy. Definitely going to explore those side streets – good call. Dai pai dongs sound amazing; I'll prioritize finding some. Thanks for the tips! I'm already picturing myself stuffing my face with delicious food while soaking in the atmosphere.

Finding a decent, affordable lunch near campus?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester for an exchange program. Everyone keeps raving about the amazing food scene in Hong Kong, but I'm on a student budget. So, my biggest worry… more

Check out the little dai pai dongs around the university. They're often tucked away on side streets and super affordable. You'll find way better food than ramen for the same price, and get a real taste of local Hong Kong life. Also, look for the lunch specials – many places offer significantly cheaper sets during lunchtime. Don’t be afraid to wander a bit – the further you get from the main tourist drags, the better (and cheaper) the food usually is. Happy eating!

That's great advice! I hadn't even considered dai pai dongs – sounds amazing. Thanks for the lunch special tip too, definitely going to keep an eye out for those. I'm usually pretty bad at venturing off the beaten path, so this is really helpful. Really appreciate the local perspective!
