Wow, thanks! That's incredibly helpful. I was worried it might be a bit dodgy going there on my own, but it sounds pretty safe and much more authentic than the Star Ferry. The sunset views and cheap eats totally sold me. Definitely going to check out those dai pai dongs – I love trying local food. Appreciate the heads-up about being aware of my surroundings though, I'll keep that in mind.
