Finding the best ramen near HSU?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester. Heard the campus is pretty cool, but I'm a total foodie. Seriously stressing about finding good, authentic ramen nearby. All the tour… more

Honestly, the area around HSU isn't exactly brimming with ramen joints. Most of the good stuff is scattered around Mong Kok and Causeway Bay, which is a bit of a trek. But there's a decent little place tucked away near the MTR station at Fortress Hill – it's not fancy, but their tonkotsu is surprisingly good and cheap. It's a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, so don't expect ambiance, just solid ramen. Check out Google Maps for "Ramen Fortress Hill" – you should find it. Prepare for lines though, it's popular with the students.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I figured it wouldn't be amazing ramen options right by the campus. Thanks for the tip on Fortress Hill – a trek it may be, but surprisingly good and cheap ramen is always a win. I appreciate the heads-up about the lines, too. I'll definitely check it out next time I'm in the area.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
