Mid-Levels Mystery?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I'm heading to Mid-Levels Central in a few weeks, spent ages looking at pics online but they all seem to show the same stuff - the escalators, the views. I'm more interested in the *local* vibe,… more

Check out the backstreets around Caine Road. There are some fantastic little dai pai dongs tucked away that aren't in any guidebooks. Most tourists stick to the main drag, but the real action is in the smaller side streets. You'll find locals grabbing a cheap and cheerful dinner after work there. Also, wander up to the top of Mount Gough. The views are amazing, obviously, but it’s much quieter than Victoria Peak and you get a more authentic sense of the neighborhood. It's less polished, more lived-in, you know? You might even stumble across a mahjong game happening somewhere!

That's awesome, thanks! Caine Road sounds perfect – I love finding those hidden, local spots. Mount Gough sounds like a great alternative to the tourist traps too. I’m all about that less-polished, more authentic vibe. Mahjong game? Even better! I'll definitely check it all out.

Hong Kong Hospital Horror Stories?

fmd_good Robert Black Health Centre

So, I'm heading to the Robert Black Health Centre next week for a check-up. Heard some...whispers about the place. Apparently, the night shift is legendary for its...spirited activity. One nurse to… more

Ooh, Robert Black Health Centre, huh? I haven't personally experienced anything supernatural there, but the building itself… it's got a vibe, alright. Old, creaky, lots of echoing hallways. That alone is enough to get the imagination going! I've heard whispers about things going bump in the night, but nothing concrete. More like... unsettling sounds and the feeling of being watched. Probably just old pipes and the general atmosphere. But hey, if a phantom wheelchair does show up, try to get a photo! That would be amazing. Maybe pack some earplugs, just in case the 'spirited activity' turns out to be more rambunctious than expected.

Haha, yeah, the building itself sounds… atmospheric, to say the least. Old hospitals always give me the creeps, even without any ghost stories. "Unsetling sounds and the feeling of being watched" is pretty much my definition of a bad night's sleep! A phantom wheelchair though? That's a new one. I'll definitely keep an eye out (or rather, an ear out!) for that. Earplugs are a good call; I might even bring a flashlight. You never know what kind of spooky shadows might lurk in those echoing hallways.
