Nah, you're not losing it. Hong Kong hotels renovate constantly; it's like a game of hotel-Jenga over there. They probably just spruced the place up without making a big fuss about it. Lots of smaller places don't bother with press releases or major online updates for renovations. Happens all the time. Those older photos are probably just outdated. Enjoy the new look though, those views are unbeatable!

Some say it was just old sports equipment and cleaning supplies, others claim it was a portal to another dimension... Probably just a bunch of dust bunnies and forgotten textbooks, though. The real mystery is that creepy smell... I still get flashbacks!
