Ma On Shan Mystery

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last week, stunning views, seriously. But I stumbled upon this tiny, almost hidden, shrine halfway up – totally overgrown, looked ancient. Anyone know its history? I… more

That sounds incredible! Ma On Shan is full of surprises, it's easy to get lost in the trails and stumble across things not on any map. I've hiked there loads, and honestly, I bet there are dozens of similar little shrines dotted around – many probably unmarked and forgotten. It's part of the magic, I think. The overgrown, ancient feel... you perfectly captured it. The humidity in those hills is something else. You'd probably have more luck finding local folklore about it through word of mouth rather than online. Maybe try chatting with some older residents of villages near the park entrance? They'd likely know the local legends. Good on you for discovering it, though! Some adventures are best kept secret anyway.

Wow, thanks! That's exactly the kind of response I was hoping for. I figured it was probably more a local thing, hence the lack of online info. You're right, the humidity was insane – felt like I was melting. I'll definitely try chatting with some of the villagers next time I'm up there. Maybe I'll even stumble upon another mystery... who knows?! It's kinda addictive, this whole exploring thing. Thanks again for the tips!

Nam Cheong Park's Secret?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

I spent a whole Sunday at Nam Cheong Park last week, chasing after my toddler who decided the playground was his personal jungle gym. Seriously, that kid has more energy than a caffeinated hummingbir… more

Nah, I've never gone down that path myself. It does look intriguing though, all overgrown and mysterious. Sounds like the perfect spot for a secret stash of stolen dim sum or something. Maybe a colony of unusually large, park-dwelling squirrels? Who knows! Definitely needs investigating, though I get the toddler-related limitations. Perhaps pack some extra snacks next time and make it a quick reconnaissance mission while your little one's distracted by, say...a particularly interesting pigeon?
