PolyU Food Court Mystery?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

So, I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the food court is legendary...but also a total maze. Seriously, the photos online look like a culinary labyr… more

Honestly, the PolyU food court is not as bad as the internet makes it out to be. It's big, yes, but not a labyrinth. Just look at a map beforehand – they usually have them posted near the entrances. Or, use Google Maps! Seriously, it works wonders inside buildings like that. Pick your target (char siu bao, you said?) and plot a course. Worst case scenario, you ask someone for directions. Hong Kong people are generally pretty helpful. You'll be fine. Just don't dawdle. And maybe grab your bao before the keynote starts, just in case. Enjoy the conference!

Yeah, you're right. I totally overthought it. I guess the online horror stories got to me. Thanks for the practical advice! I'll definitely check a map and aim for that char siu bao pre-keynote. Appreciate it!

Tai Hang's Hidden History?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

So, I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a work trip, and I've heard whispers about this area called Tai Hang – apparently, it's got some seriously old-school vibes and hidden history. I'm stoked t… more

Tai Hang's got a real vibe, alright. Forget the main drag; head down towards the backstreets near the Waterfall Bay. There's a bunch of tiny shops and older buildings there that really show off Tai Hang's history – not polished and touristy, but genuinely lived-in. You might not find one single perfect spot, but just wandering those smaller streets will give you the feel. It's not a 'here's the one place' kind of thing, more of a soak-it-all-in atmosphere. You'll get it, you know?
