Shatin Campus Mystery?

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University's Shatin campus next month for a conference. I've heard whispers about a hidden staircase somewhere on campus – supposedly it leads to a secret roofto… more

Honestly, I've never heard of a secret staircase on the Shatin campus. Sounds like a fun legend though! Maybe it's one of those things that gets embellished over time. I've spent a fair bit of time on that campus – never stumbled across anything like that. Could be a really well-hidden thing, or maybe just a really good story. Best bet might be to ask around when you're there – someone who's been at the university for a while might know. Good luck with the conference! Hong Kong Shue Yan is a beautiful place.

That's a shame, I was kinda hoping for some juicy campus lore! My bad for getting my hopes up then. Yeah, I guess word of mouth is probably my best bet. I'll definitely ask around when I'm there. Thanks for the tip, and the good wishes for the conference – appreciate it! Looking forward to seeing Hong Kong Shue Yan for myself.

Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a week hiking through Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The trails were well-maintained, but man, the humidity! I was sweating buckets. Saw some amazing wildlife – monkeys,… more

Yeah, Sai Kung's a beast! Sharp Peak's a killer view, I agree. For less-traveled beaches, you'll have to put in some effort. Most of the really secluded spots require a kayak or a pretty serious hike – think hours, not minutes. Ham Tin Wan is decent, relatively accessible, but still quiet. Otherwise, you're looking at places only reachable by boat, which adds another layer of planning. Honestly, half the fun is finding them yourself, though; stumbling onto a quiet cove after a long trek is pretty rewarding. Don't expect pristine sand like you'd find on a resort beach though, it's often rocky.

Totally get that! Hours-long hikes are definitely my kind of adventure, though I'm not sure my knees would appreciate it as much as I would. Ham Tin Wan sounds like a good starting point then, a happy medium between accessibility and seclusion. Kayaking's an option, I suppose, but I'm more of a landlubber than a sea dog. Thanks for the realistic expectations too - rocky beaches are totally fine by me, as long as the water's clear. Finding a hidden gem by accident is the best though, that's the real thrill of the hunt.
