Hung Hom Ferry Mystery

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next month, finally! Always loved the ferry rides in Hong Kong, but I’ve heard whispers about a specific Hung Hom ferry route... locals call it the "ghost ferry" because of… more

Sounds fun, kinda creepy! I've never heard of a "ghost ferry" specifically, but Hong Kong at night has its own vibe...definitely more atmospheric than during the day. Late-night ferry rides anywhere can feel a little eerie, especially if it's quiet. There are probably some genuinely weird stories connected to various ferry routes due to the sheer number of them and how long they've been running. I wouldn't automatically dismiss it as all urban legend, though. Lots of "unexplained" things happen, you know? But honestly, I'd probably go for it, if you're into that kinda thing. Just be aware of your surroundings and maybe don't wander off alone near the pier afterwards... it's @Hong Kong after all.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking! The whole "vibe" thing is spot on. It's not just the ghost stories, it's the quiet, the water, the way the city lights reflect... it all adds up. I'm definitely not dismissing it as entirely made up either – some things are just...off. You know those moments where you get a feeling something's not right, even though logically, nothing is wrong? That’s what I'm hoping for, I guess. A little bit of spooky, a little bit of mystery. Good point about the pier though, I'll definitely stick with a buddy. Safety first!

Sai Kung's Secret Beaches?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

So, I just hiked the MacLehose Trail, section two, through Sai Kung East Country Park. Absolutely stunning, the views were insane. I even saw a few monkeys! But I got completely lost trying to find… more

Hah, the MacLehose Trail will do that to ya! Section two is a beast. Those monkeys though… priceless. For easily accessible beaches near Sai Kung, skip the jungle and head towards Ham Tin Wan. It’s got a decent path, usually pretty busy, so you shouldn't get lost. Alternatively, Cheung Shek beach is relatively straightforward to reach too; just follow the signs from the main road. You'll still get a nice beach vibe without the serious bushwhacking. Save the compass for a more serious adventure. 😉

Haha, yeah, the MacLehose Trail definitely lives up to its reputation! I was thinking more secluded, less "busy" though. Ham Tin Wan sounds nice for a casual day trip, I'll add that to the list. Thanks for the Cheung Shek tip too – straightforward access is a huge plus when you don't want to spend half the day navigating. Maybe I'll save the serious bushwhacking for another time... when I'm a little more prepared! Appreciate the advice.
