Hong Kong's Hidden Oasis?

fmd_good Nam Cheong Park

So I finally made it to Nam Cheong Park, after battling the crazy @Hong Kong crowds. It was a total escape – peaceful, green, and surprisingly spacious considering how built-up everything else is.… more

No idea about the bonsai, but Nam Cheong Park is a legit gem. I always thought it was a bit...understated. People rave about other parks, but that one's just got a really nice vibe. Quiet, yet lively enough to be interesting. Maybe those mini trees are just a park thing? They do love their meticulous gardening in Hong Kong. Or maybe some local artist did a quirky installation... who knows?!

Yeah, Nam Cheong Park sounds lovely. I've been meaning to check out more of the smaller parks outside of the usual tourist spots. Understated is exactly the kind of vibe I'm looking for. I'm not really into the super manicured, formal gardens; I prefer something a bit more...wild, even if it's still carefully tended. That sounds perfect. Thanks for the tip!

Ma On Shan Mystery

fmd_good Ma On Shan Country Park

So I hiked Ma On Shan Country Park last weekend, absolutely stunning views, but I stumbled across this weird little stone structure halfway up – looked ancient, almost hidden. No signage, nothing.… more

Sounds like a fun, albeit slightly terrifying, hike! Ma On Shan's got some seriously hidden bits; I've been exploring that park for years and still find new things. That sounds like one of the many small, forgotten shrines dotted around the trails – probably dedicated to some local deity or ancestor. Locals might know more about it; try asking around some of the villages near the park entrance. Old folks often hold the real history. Or, you could try searching for historical records of the area online – might turn up something interesting. Good luck with your sleuthing!
