Lost Luggage at West Hotel?

fmd_good West Hotel

So I stayed at the West Hotel last week, fancy place, right near the harbour. The service was top-notch, but...I lost my luggage. Seriously. Gone. Vanished. Like a magician's assistant, poof! I fi… more

Ugh, that's awful. Losing luggage is the worst. Did you check everything – the hotel's lost and found, the airport, even the taxi you took from the airport? Sometimes things get misplaced in the most unexpected places. Beyond the hotel's report, consider contacting your credit card company or travel insurance provider. They might offer some assistance with replacing lost items or covering some of the costs. Keep meticulous records of everything— receipts for replacements, communication with the hotel, etc. It helps immensely if you need to escalate things further. Good luck getting your stuff back! Hong Kong is a busy place, so persistence is key.

Thanks so much! I did check the hotel lost and found, and the airport – nothing. I didn't even think about the taxi, that's a good point. I'll call them tomorrow. It's mostly clothes, but I did have a pretty expensive camera in my bag... Ugh. I'll definitely contact my credit card company and insurance – hadn't thought of that either. Seriously, appreciate the advice! I'm already stressed enough dealing with this in @Hong Kong. I'll keep all the receipts like you said.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
