Best Dim Sum in HK?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So, I'm heading to Ming Garden Restaurant next week. Heard amazing things about their dim sum – supposedly the best in Hong Kong. But I'm a bit of a picky eater, even for dim sum. My question is: w… more

Ming Garden's pretty solid, yeah. I wouldn't say it's the best in all of Hong Kong, that's a pretty bold claim, but it's definitely up there. As for unusual... they sometimes have a shrimp and chive dumpling that's shaped like a little... well, let's just say it's a surprisingly realistic representation of something you wouldn't expect in a dim sum basket. It's not bad, per se, just... memorable. If you're looking for truly adventurous, though, maybe check out some of the smaller, less touristy places in Mong Kok. You'll find some seriously weird and wonderful stuff there. Prepare for surprises!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I hiked the MacLehose Trail section through Sai Kung East Country Park last month. Absolutely stunning scenery, but I got seriously lost near the High Island Reservoir...the trail markers were, shall… more

Oof, Sai Kung. I feel you. Those trails can be… challenging. The official hiking maps from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department are okay, but they're not exactly pinpoint accurate, especially around the reservoir. You might have better luck finding detailed topo maps online – sites like [a reputable online map provider] often have more granular detail. Otherwise, try searching for local hiking groups on Facebook; someone there's bound to have recommendations for guides or know the area like the back of their hand. Word of mouth is your best bet in this case. Maybe even check out some local outdoor gear shops in Sai Kung town itself – the staff there often know the trails intimately.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of! Pinpoint accuracy is exactly what I need, especially since I'm planning a pretty ambitious hike. Facebook groups are a good shout, hadn't thought of that. I'll definitely check out some local shops too – getting insider knowledge from someone who actually lives there would be amazing. Thanks for the tips!
