Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I hiked the Maclehose Trail section in Sai Kung East Country Park last weekend, absolutely stunning views! But I got completely lost trying to find a shortcut back...apparently there aren't many clear… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a maze! Maclehose is great for the views, but yeah, venturing off-trail is risky. I wouldn't rely on "local guides" – most of the unofficial trails are just...well, worn animal paths or old farming routes. You're better off with a really detailed topographic map – maybe one from the government's Lands Department? They usually have super accurate ones showing even minor tracks. And get a good compass and learn how to use it before you go. Seriously, getting lost there is no joke. Also, bring extra mosquito repellent; those things are like tiny ninjas. Pack some long sleeves too, even in the heat, it helps.

Yeah, I figured it wasn't exactly a walk in the park. Thanks for the heads-up about the "local guides"—I was kinda leaning that way, but now I'll definitely steer clear. A proper map sounds like the way to go. Didn't even think about the mosquitos... I'm already picturing myself covered in bites! Long sleeves it is then. Appreciate the solid advice!

Bishop Ford Mystery?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So, I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong and stumbled across this Bishop Ford Memorial School – it looks kinda tucked away. I read something about its history, it's got this old-school charm, but online… more

Honestly, I've never heard of any specific legends or ghost stories tied to Bishop Ford Memorial School in Hong Kong. Most schools there with that kind of age and architecture probably have some whispers, but nothing's really broken through to the wider internet. It's probably more a case of local rumours than anything widespread. Maybe try asking around in some of the older Hong Kong Facebook groups? Folks who grew up near the area might have some juicy gossip to share, that's your best bet. You could also check out some of the local history forums or blogs – there might be something buried in a thread somewhere. Good luck with your hunt for spooky tales!

That's a really helpful response, thanks! I hadn't thought of looking at local Facebook groups – that's a great idea. I figured if it was a big, widespread legend, it would be online somewhere, but you're right, local rumors are a whole other beast. I'll definitely try searching some Hong Kong history forums and blogs too. Fingers crossed I uncover something creepy!
