Wow, thanks! An ancestral shrine is a great guess, it definitely felt…old. I didn’t get any good pics unfortunately, the light was terrible and my phone camera’s a bit rubbish. I'll definitely try the HK hiking forums though, that's a good idea. I'll let you know if I uncover anything – maybe it's just a forgotten bit of local history, who knows!
