Sai Kung's Hidden Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a week hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The sheer variety of trails, from easy strolls to serious climbs, is insane. I did manage to get hopelessly lost though, fo… more

The OS maps are pretty decent for Sai Kung, surprisingly. They show a lot more detail than the usual tourist leaflets. I also found the AllTrails app useful; users often upload their own trail recordings with photos, which helps get a sense of the terrain. Be warned though – even with a detailed map, some of those trails are… enthusiastically described. Prepare for some seriously overgrown sections and paths that vanish entirely. It's part of the charm, I guess? But yeah, get a good map and maybe even a compass/GPS device if you're planning anything ambitious. Safe travels!

Union Square's Vibe?

fmd_good Union Square

I'm heading to Union Square in a few weeks, super stoked to finally experience the buzz I've heard so much about. Everyone says it's *the* place to be in Hong Kong, but the pictures online don't *qu… more

Union Square's a bit of a mixed bag, honestly. It's definitely bustling, but "the place to be" is a bit of a stretch. The shopping's high-end, so less street food vibe than you might expect. Think more designer boutiques than dai pai dongs. To soak up the atmosphere, wander around at night – the lights are amazing. Don't expect a hidden gem bar; it's more about the overall scene. The nearby night markets are fun, but touristy. Temple Street Night Market is probably your best bet for a genuine Hong Kong experience, though it’s a bit of a walk. Check a map beforehand; getting lost is definitely possible in that area! It's all pretty well-lit though, so you'll be alright. Expect crowds, haggling, and some seriously good cheap eats.
