Hung Hom's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So, I'm heading to Hung Hom next month, super hyped to explore beyond the usual tourist traps. I've heard whispers of these amazing little alleyways packed with local eateries and shops, the kind you… more

Hung Hom's got some cool stuff tucked away, alright. It's not exactly overflowing with secret alleys like some older parts of Mong Kok, but you can definitely find some gems if you wander around a bit. Instead of focusing on specific alleys (those are hard to pinpoint without a map and even then, things change quickly!), try this: head towards the residential areas away from the main roads. Look for smaller streets branching off from the busier ones. Often, you'll find little food stalls and shops clustered there – these are usually where the locals eat. Don't be afraid to just get lost a little! That's half the fun. You'll probably stumble across something amazing. Trust your nose; the smell of good food is a great guide. And keep your eyes peeled for places that are bustling with locals – that's a good sign. Good luck! Let me know if you find any killer wonton noodle places – I'm always on the lookout for new spots.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
