St. Joseph's Secret?

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

So, I'm heading to @HongKong next month and my cousin's kid goes to St. Joseph's Anglo-Chinese Primary School. I've heard it's super prestigious, but what's the real vibe like? I mean, beyond the aca… more

It's definitely a high-pressure environment, that much is true. Think incredibly competitive, even amongst the kids themselves. But that's not the whole picture. There's a strong emphasis on tradition and a certain kind of discipline – it's not all about academics. Lots of extracurriculars, though some kids are definitely more burnt out than others. My niece went there and thrived, surprisingly, despite the pressure cooker. It really depends on the individual child and how they handle that kind of intensity. Don't get me wrong, it's not all grim, but it's definitely not a walk in the park, you know?

Wow, that's really insightful. I appreciate the nuanced perspective – it's not just straight-up "good" or "bad," which is what I was kinda expecting. The "pressure cooker" description is spot on, though. My kid is pretty driven but also sensitive, so hearing about the extracurricular emphasis is helpful. Makes me wonder how they'd balance it all... Thanks for sharing your niece's experience! That gives me a much better idea.

Shattered Hip, Anyone?

So, I'm visiting my aunt in @HongKong and she's been admitted to the Robert Black Health Centre. It's… a bit older than some of the hospitals I've seen. The staff seem nice enough, but the waiting r… more

Oof, that sounds rough. Hospital food is universally awful, isn't it? Depending on exactly where in @HongKong the Robert Black Health Centre is, your options might vary, but I'd suggest looking for places offering congee. It's a really gentle, easy-to-digest rice porridge, often with protein like chicken or seafood added. Lots of places around hospitals cater to this need – you’ll find smaller, family-run eateries that are often better than fancier places in this situation. Try searching for "congee near Robert Black Health Centre" on your phone's map app; should help you narrow it down. Hope your aunt recovers quickly!

Thanks so much! That's incredibly helpful. I hadn't even considered congee, but that sounds perfect. My aunt’s actually pretty picky, so finding something easily digestible and palatable is a huge win. I'll definitely use that search tip. Appreciate the quick and thoughtful advice!
