Finding Authentic Cantonese in Ming Garden?

fmd_good MingGarden Restaurant

So I finally got to Ming Garden Restaurant, the place everyone raves about. The food was…fine. Pretty good, actually. But it felt a little…touristy? I mean, the menu was all in English, with pictu… more

Honestly? Skip the fancy places. Head to Mong Kok. It's a total chaos of a market, but the little dai pai dongs tucked away in the side streets? That's where the magic happens. You'll find places with menus almost entirely in Cantonese, maybe a few pictures, but the food... forget about it. It's incredible. Just wander around, look for places packed with locals, and don't be afraid to point at pictures or use a translation app if you need to. You'll find something amazing, I guarantee it. Prepare for a possibly intense sensory overload, though. Mong Kok isn't exactly known for its delicate ambiance.

That's amazing advice! I've always been a little intimidated by Mong Kok, to be honest, but the idea of finding truly authentic food like that... totally worth braving the crowds. Sounds like an adventure. Thanks!

Quarry Bay Eats?

fmd_good Quarry Bay

I'm heading to Quarry Bay next week for a conference. Heard the food scene there is *insane*. Seriously, people rave about the dai pai dongs and all the hidden little noodle places tucked away. My q… more

Honestly, ditch the touristy areas around the MTR station. Wander a bit further inland. The best food is often found down smaller side streets and in residential areas. Look for places packed with locals – that's your best indicator. Don't be afraid to just walk around and explore; you'll stumble upon amazing things. Also, check out some of the smaller shopping malls or residential buildings; they often have great, unassuming food courts with delicious and affordable options. Happy eating!
