Hung Hom's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Hung Hom

So I'm heading to Hung Hom next month, super excited! I've read about the amazing street food scene but all the blogs seem to focus on the big markets. I'm hoping to find some truly local spots, the… more

Check out the backstreets near the Hung Hom Ferry Pier. There are a few tiny dai pai dongs tucked away – they're not exactly hidden, but definitely less touristy than the main markets. Look for places with handwritten menus and a bunch of locals hanging out. You'll probably find some seriously good, messy, and delicious Cantonese food there. And don't be afraid to just wander – that's half the fun! You might even stumble upon some little noodle shops or places selling amazing dim sum that aren't on any maps. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
