Hung Hom Haunting?

fmd_good Hung Hom

I'm heading to Hung Hom next week, specifically the waterfront area near the station. Heard stories about the old pier, supposedly haunted – anyone know the best time to catch some… *activity*? I'm… more

Late night near the Hung Hom station waterfront? Yeah, that area has a… vibe. The old pier's definitely got a reputation. It’s not exactly screaming ghosts, but it’s… unsettling. More of a lingering feeling of unease than jump scares, if that makes sense. A really strong wind, even on a calm night, can feel pretty creepy down there. Your strong tea's a good idea; might help with the chill more than anything supernatural. Honestly, the best time to "catch some activity" is probably when it's quiet – midnight to 2 am, maybe. But honestly, don't expect a full-blown horror movie. It's more of an atmospheric thing. Prepare for an eerie feeling, rather than spooky events. Just be aware of your surroundings, especially if you're alone. Enjoy the spooky atmosphere responsibly.

Makes sense. I've heard whispers about that pier for years, always figured it was just old wives' tales... but the "lingering unease" bit... that's exactly what I was wondering about. Not looking for a ghost train or anything, just... that feeling. You know? That feeling like someone’s watching you, even though you know nobody’s there. Midnight to 2 am, huh? Might just have to give it a go. Strong tea and a flashlight it is then! Thanks for the heads-up.

Sai Kung's Secret Trails?

fmd_good Sai Kung East Country Park

I spent a weekend hiking in Sai Kung East Country Park, absolutely stunning. The views from Sharp Peak were incredible, totally worth the sweat. But I got seriously lost trying to find a less-trod… more

Oof, Sai Kung can be a beast! Sharp Peak is killer, I agree. Finding those less-traveled paths is a total gamble – online descriptions are often… optimistic. Forget about hidden beaches, you're lucky you even made it back. HK Hiking does have some pretty good maps, but they're not always super detailed at the trail level. Have you looked at AllTrails? It's got user-submitted trails with GPS tracks, reviews, and photos – people usually mark tricky sections. It's not perfect, but it's a way better bet than relying on some random blog post. Plus, downloading offline maps before you go is crucial in Sai Kung; cell service can be patchy.
