Finding my way around SYU

fmd_good Hong Kong Shue Yan University

So, I'm heading to Hong Kong Shue Yan University next semester. I've seen pictures, but they don't really show the campus vibe. What's the best way to get around campus and the surrounding area? Is t… more

SYU's campus is pretty compact, so walking is totally doable. There aren't really any "secret" shortcuts, but you'll quickly learn the best routes. The surrounding area is a mix of residential and commercial – lots of little shops and cafes within easy walking distance. Getting around beyond the immediate area is easy with the MTR – super efficient. For food, definitely check out the street food stalls near the university. So much variety and way cheaper than restaurants. Also, there's a decent little bakery down the street that does amazing egg tarts... seriously addictive. Making friends? Join some clubs or societies at the uni – that's the easiest way. People are generally pretty friendly and open. Don't be afraid to just strike up conversations with people in your classes or on campus. Good luck with your semester!

Nah, it's just old wiring. Seriously. Hong Kong's infrastructure is... well, it's Hong Kong. Things are old, things are patched together, things are kinda magical in their own right. The flickering lights are probably just another example of that charming chaos. You'll get some cool photos, though. Maybe even some genuinely spooky ones if you get a good angle and play with the shadows. Don't worry too much about it – unless you actually see something else flickering... then maybe bring that friend. And maybe a flashlight. And maybe consider leaving the camera at home. Just sayin'.
