Escalators to Heaven?

fmd_good Mid-Levels Central

So I finally hiked up the Mid-Levels escalator system in Hong Kong. It's insane! Seriously, a moving walkway that goes on FOREVER. I kept thinking I was almost at the top, then BAM, another stretc… more

Yeah, the Mid-Levels escalators are a trip! I've done that walk a few times and getting lost on the way down is totally a thing. The signage… let's just say it's… optimistic about how straightforward everything is. My best advice? Download Google Maps before you start your ascent. Seriously, use it offline, because the signal can be spotty in some sections. Then, just stick religiously to the map. Also, pay attention to street names – they’ll help you orient yourself. It’s less about “finding your way” and more about sticking to a plan. You'll be fine.

Bishop Ford Mystery?

fmd_good Bishop Ford Memorial School

So I'm heading to Bishop Ford Memorial School next week for a conference, and someone told me there's a ghost story connected to the old library wing. They said it's supposedly haunted by a former li… more

Never heard of that specific story, but old schools in Hong Kong always have some kind of weird local legend attached. Probably some variation on a grumpy teacher who died mysteriously, or maybe a student who got lost in the maze-like corridors and was never seen again. It's part of the charm, I guess? Let us know what happens! Hopefully, it's just creaky floorboards and overactive imaginations. But if you do see anything… well, maybe just pretend you didn't. You know… for your own sake.

Haha, yeah, that's exactly the kind of thing I was expecting! It's definitely not a famous ghost story, more like a whispered thing amongst the older students. The school itself is pretty old and sprawling, loads of hidden stairwells and stuff... so easy to believe something could get lost. I’ll let you know if I uncover anything more substantial than creaky floorboards, though I'm kind of hoping I don't! Maybe I should just stick to the library... less chance of encountering a grumpy ghost teacher there.
