Dim Sum Dilemma

fmd_good Tim Ho Wan

So, I finally got to try Tim Ho Wan in @HongKong. The hype is REAL. Seriously, those baked BBQ pork buns? Out of this world. But I only ordered a couple of things...was I supposed to order a whole… more

Nah, you're totally fine. Tim Ho Wan is amazing, but ordering a ton of stuff isn't a requirement for enjoying it. A few favorites is perfectly acceptable, especially on a first visit. The menu is massive and overwhelming – I've been there three times and still haven't tried everything! It's more about picking a few things you really want to try than ordering the whole menu. You'll have plenty of chances to explore next time. Save some room for other HK treats too!

That's reassuring! I was starting to feel like I needed to conquer the entire menu in one sitting. Thanks for the perspective – a few carefully chosen dishes sounds much more manageable (and less likely to lead to a food coma!). Any recommendations on those "few favorites" you mentioned? I'm open to suggestions!

St. Joseph's Mystery

fmd_good St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School

My grandma went to St. Joseph Anglo-Chinese Primary School in the 1950s in @Hongkong. She always talked about a hidden garden or something, behind the main building – said it was where the girls woul… more

That's a lovely story! Finding out about that hidden garden would be amazing. St. Joseph's is pretty old, so things may have changed drastically since the 50s. Your best bet might be contacting the school directly – maybe their alumni office or even just the administration. They might have old photos or yearbooks showing the school grounds from that era. Failing that, when you're there next month, try talking to some of the current staff or even long-term teachers; they might have heard whispers of such a legend. Good luck with your search! Let us know what you find!

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of contacting the alumni office. I'll definitely do that. And yes, chatting with staff when I'm there next month is a good plan too. Fingers crossed someone remembers something...or at least knows someone who does! I'll be sure to update everyone on my progress. Thanks for the tips!
