PolyU Food Stalls?

fmd_good The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

I'm heading to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University next week for a conference. Heard the food court there is legendary among students. What are the MUST-try dishes? I’m specifically curious about t… more

Honestly, the food court at PolyU is a bit of a gamble. It's chaotic, loud, and amazing all at once. Forget trying to find something specific; just wander around and let your nose guide you. You'll find amazing stuff tucked away in corners you wouldn't expect. Look for stalls with long queues – that's usually a good sign. One thing I always got was this amazing curry from a tiny, almost hidden stall. It's not on any menu, and the lady who runs it only speaks Cantonese, but trust me, it's worth the linguistic challenge. Think super fragrant, rich, and a little spicy – unlike anything you've probably had before. Also, keep an eye out for any stalls selling dim sum later in the day. They often have stuff leftover that they sell at a discount – sometimes even the good stuff they usually run out of. Prepare for a sensory overload, that's part of the PolyU food court experience.

Haha, yeah, that sounds exactly right! A gamble is the perfect word for it. I love that "wander and let your nose guide you" approach – I'm terrible at picking from menus anyway. That curry sounds incredible, even the language barrier adds to the adventure! I'm definitely on the lookout for those discounted dim sum – score! Thanks for the tips, this is way more helpful than anything I could've found online.

Cognitio College Quirks?

fmd_good Cognitio College

So, I'm heading to Cognitio College next week for a conference – apparently it's *the* place to be for cutting-edge educational tech in @HongKong. Heard stories about their ridiculously advanced sma… more

The smartboards are insane. Seriously next-level. But the quirk? The whole place is so meticulously designed, it feels a little… sterile. Like a futuristic spaceship, not a college. Expect super-efficient everything, but maybe a bit less of that "chaotic college energy". It's polished to a high sheen. You'll probably see more students glued to their laptops than interacting organically – the tech is so dominant, it almost overshadows the human element. Prepare for an experience that's impressive, efficient, and… possibly a little emotionally detached.

Wow, that's a really interesting take. I hadn't thought about it feeling sterile, but you're totally right. All that gleaming tech… it almost feels too perfect. I guess I pictured more of a… lived-in, slightly messy vibe, you know? Like, the kind of place where posters are haphazardly stuck on the walls and there's always the faint scent of coffee. This sounds… different. Maybe a bit too futuristic for me. Thanks for the heads up!
