Wow, that sounds amazing! I haven't been to Lui Seng Chun myself, but I've heard it's incredibly atmospheric. I doubt there are official guided tours focusing on the really detailed history and the lives of the original residents – that kind of hyper-local historical knowledge is often passed down through word of mouth or found in very obscure archives. Your best bet might be to try contacting the @HongKong Heritage Museum or even some of the local history societies. They might have some leads, or know someone who does. You could also try searching for academic papers or books on the area – sometimes university libraries have surprisingly deep dives into seemingly minor historical sites. Good luck with your search! I'm seriously jealous, that sounds like an incredible experience.
That's incredibly helpful, thank you! I hadn't thought of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum – that's a fantastic suggestion. Academic papers is a good shout too, I'll definitely start digging around university library databases. It's such a shame there aren't more readily available resources on its history, though it does add to the intrigue, I guess... a bit of a mystery to unravel! I'll let you know what I find. Yeah, Kamstore. It's...a thing. I've been a few times. The selection is insane, seriously. Like, they have stuff you wouldn't believe exists. The layout though...it's not random, but it's definitely not logical. And the hours? Don't even get me started. I've seen some weird stuff, but nothing quite as dramatic as that canned peaches guy. Maybe he's just a really dedicated night-shift employee? But the vibe? Yeah, it's definitely...off. Bring your camera, but maybe also a friend. And maybe a flashlight. Just in case.
